Merry Christmas Happy new year
It is clear that the Palestinian leadership meeting two days ago focused only on the “ Diplomatic non violent resistance” and a little bit on the legal non violent resistance. These two components of non violent resistance cannot be underestimated. Joining twenty international organizations, deciding to join new ones every Monday till we reach all the 522 international organizations, deciding to go to the UNGA Assembly according to the United for Peace formula, assisting to work for a UN membership for Palestine, and to sue occupation in the international courts including the international criminal court. All these are bold actions that cannot be taken every day. Yesterday Mr Mohammed Shtayyeh the member of the Central Committee of Fateh added that the Palestinian Authority is studying the possibility of challenging the President Trump decision about Jerusalem in the American courts, especially the high court.
In other hand , the other components of non violent resistance, which a third one has to do with promotion of the communities resilience, and the economic aspects of boycott and develop alternatives for the Israeli goods and for the workers in the settlements took less attention. This includes also the necessity to withdraw the Palestinian investments from the Israeli economy, and stop the joint economic projects.
Also took less attention other fourth component that is relevant to the creation of local community structures for sustaining the presence on the homeland and create development ( Such as the activation of the 1963 elected Municipality of Amanat Al Quds as it was called, as an example. Here also rebuilding Gaza, and creating facts in the ground in area C and East Jerusalem, and provide the Palestinian refugees with dignified life till the right of return will be solved can be mentioned.
In this regard the fifth component that has to do with the planning for creative non violent field acts ( such as creating new villages and facts on the ground through non violent activities left its place for just demonstrations and rage days.
We need to develop a full, continuous and sustainable non violent campaign along these lines. Israelis who believe and support the two states solution in 1967 borders and others should join, and also the international as well in a way that will make all the world as places for the struggle for the freedom of the Palestinian people.
